PROJECT INFO
Associated with 20 feeder primary schools, additional classroom space was desperately needed and in 2022, planning permission was granted to add additional facilities to the school’s site.
Mulroy College School in Milford, Co Donegal is benefitting from an additional 860sqm modular classroom block. Providing much needed space and facilities, this new block will make a significant difference to the school’s growing community.
Completed in a sargasso and oyster grey colourway, inspired by the College’s picturesque location beside Mulroy Bay, the nearly zero energy building (nZeb), is split over two floors.
Sitting adjacent to the main school building, the new modular block consists of seven mainstream classrooms, three SET rooms, two offices and washrooms.
Associated site works delivered included a new section of footpath and pedestrian crossing within the school grounds, connection to existing storm and foul drainage and all associated works and site works.
Delivering a sustainable building for the future, this highly insulated and airtight modular building has already achieved a ‘best in class’ BER A rating, which will contribute to efficiencies within the school’s future running costs.
The 860sqm classroom block was manufactured offsite, with the project taking just five months from start to completion.

“I am delighted that in just six months, our new building and other works by Mac Zero Modular Buildings are now complete and operational.”
“This additional space has been much anticipated as demand for places within our school grows. In terms of the speed and professionalism of the actual build, it’s been impressive. I am particularly pleased that I was kept fully abreast of developments and timelines, and that the impact on the school community was kept to a minimum.
Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) have many benefits for educational organisations, and certainly, for us, we benefitted from the short build time, the reduced disruption on the school’s grounds and the future-proofing of our new building.”
