Mac Zero constructs 880m² modular classroom block for Errigal College
PROJECT INFO
In September 2023, Errigal College had its biggest-ever intake of first-year pupils. The school population has now doubled in just two years.
There are plans to develop a new site and building for Errigal College in the near future, but as the school urgently needed more space to accommodate its additional pupils, modern, modular buildings have provided the ideal solution, delivering healthy, sustainable learning environments for Errigal.
After manufacturing and installing an initial three classrooms in the Summer of 2023, Mac Zero has now completed a second phase of work on a standalone 2-storey building.
The nearly zero-energy building (nZeb), which sits adjacent to the main school building, consists of seven mainstream classrooms, three SET rooms, two offices, and washrooms.
Delivering a sustainable building for the future, this highly insulated and airtight modular building has already achieved a ‘best in class’ BER A rating, which will contribute to efficiencies within the school’s future running costs.
The 880sqm classroom block was manufactured offsite, with the project taking just five months from start to completion.

ERRIGAL COLLEGE
“The demand for places in our school has increased year-on-year, and for us, space is at a premium. By adding an additional standalone classroom block, the team at Mac Zero has delivered a sustainable building that offers a healthy and ‘best in class’ learning environment for our students. This is the second project that Mac Zero has delivered for our school, and on both occasions, the team worked hard to ensure minimal disruption to our school community.
Modern methods of construction offer both reduced timeframes for educational facilities and also deliver future-proofed buildings that are airtight, and we’re delighted that we now have increased space for our students to learn and flourish.”
